The nearby Van Gogh museum houses nearly 200 of the artist's paintings. The most famous building in Amsterdam is Anne Frankhuis which attracts attracts over half a million tourists each year; it was there that Anne Frank wrote her famous diaries whilst hiding during the Second World War. A boat trip on the many canals is a good way to see Amsterdam and it is from here that you can really appreciate how picturesque the city is; with its tall, narrow houses, imposing arched bridges and the fabulous boathouses which line the canals. |
